Gestures of Resistance

When those in power ruthlessly destroy everything in sight, poisoning the land and the water and punishing those bravely claiming freedom and equality for themselves and others, every small gesture of resistance holds in itself the promise of a revolution in bloom. A woman’s sacrifice inspiring thousands of others to take to the streets, a radical act of presence that takes the shape of a joyful queer extravaganza, a familiar voice on the other end of the phone listening to your doubts, your fears and your plights or just simply a flower withstanding a storm, are just as many ways to remind us that in the face of oppression we can raise up by finding strength in our collective roots.
